 In American lit we practiced coming up with our own claim on a topic then provided evidence to support them. The topic was the ‘unknown’. One of my claims were “It’s valuable to explore the unknown because it can give you new experiences.” My supporting statement was “Trying things you’ve never done before can broaden your horizon and give you a new perspective on things.”What I learned from todays lesson is a claim always needs supporting evidence to back it up. It’s also good to have about 5 claims, counter claims, and pieces of evidence so you have more than enough for your essay.
