We had a sub in American lit today. We had to write down the definitions of some words, for some reason they all started with the letter ‘A’. We then had to pick the right words in a sentence from the work book. After we had to make sentences of our own using those words. It was an easy day. 

 In American lit we were talking about supporting evidence and how crucial it is to have solid evidence in an argument. We went through a fake trial to show how evidence has to be delivered and explained into detail for it to be supporting. We even got on the topic of O.J Simpson’s trial and how his lawyer ‘manipulated’ evidence to support O.J’s case. Today’s lesson was fun and interesting. 

For the first half of American lit we applied the rhetorical triangle components to ads. The second half we continued our argument notes and briefly went of claims and the 3 types of claims there are. There are ‘claims of fact, claims of value, and claims of policy. Overall the lesson was good and not boring, I liked that we weren’t just doing ONE thing. 

 In American lit. we talked about what an argument is and the 3 components of an argument. Logos, being the logic, evidence or facts of an argument. Ethos is how believable the deliverer is and their credibility. And pathos- evidence used to draw emotion from the audience. The class was mostly a lecture, he tried forcing an answer out of us but it didn’t really work well. Other than that it was a great day !

 I was absent today. 

 

 Today some of the class presented their one pager, everyone’s was creative. After we got the chance to retake an origin myth quiz. Today was an easy day 

 Today in American lit. we continued to work on our one pager. I still haven’t started drawing yet because I’m gathering all my details I’ll be putting on the paper first. Today was an easy Friday. 

 Today we received a ‘one pager’ assignment on one of Emily Dickinson’s poems . I got the poem ‘Hope’ is the Only Thing With Feathers,  after reading and analyzing the poem, the theme I came up with is ‘Even in dark times and unfamiliar places hope is in us all’. I really like when Mr. Reese gives us assignments to tap into our creative side to understand literature in a way we can comprehend or relate to.
